LEE'S SUMMIT FACILITY

  • CNC Wire EDM Machinist

    R&D/Leverage has a first shift position available for an individual with CNC Wire EDM experience on Sodick and Agie Charmilles Wire EDM machines. Some programming experience is required. The person in this position will be responsible for keeping multiple wire EDM machines setup and running on short and long run programs. The right individual will need to work well in a team environment, have the ability to hold tight tolerances, have an attention to detail and a commitment to quality. The ability to work some overtime when needed is a plus.

  • CNC Lathe Machinist

    Job Summary

    Positions are available for individuals with CNC lathe experience. Programming and Mastercam experience is helpful but not required.

     

    The person in this position will be responsible for setting up and keeping multiple machines running on short and long run programs.

  • Process Technician

    R&D/Leverage is seeking an Injection Molding Process Technician for our Research and Development Lab.

     

    Desired Knowledge

    • Functional knowledge of injection molding machines strongly considered
    • Functional knowledge of Husky injection molding machines preferred
    • Processing knowledge is a plus
    • Working knowledge of statistical data
    • Familiar with GMP and ISO guidelines

     

    Desired Skills

    • Experience with the start-up, process development and trouble-shooting of new tooling
    • General understanding of decoupled injection molding
    • Experience with the installation and alignment of tooling into molding machines
    • Ability to problem solve machine systems and auxiliary equipment
    • Ability to read and understand tooling and container/product drawing prints

     

    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

    • Responsible for machine start-ups
    • First response to all machine and secondary equipment alarms
    • Ensure machines and robots are running at optimum efficiency
    • Troubleshoot machine, mold and material problems
    • Report to Production Shift Supervisor any difficulties or problems requiring special attention
    • Responsible for accurate documentation and part quality
    • Ensures proper care of all equipment, especially the managing and proper disposal of all scrap and waste
    • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
    • Responsible for continuous improvement
    • Comply with all internal and OSHA required safety procedures
    • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in respective areas
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

     

    Education/Experience

    High school diploma or general education degree; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Plastic injection molding, preform and/or PET experience a plus.

     

    Physical Demands

    • Must occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds
    • Must have the ability to distinguish color variation

     

    Job Type: full-time with required shift work

  • CNC Mill Machinist

    Job Summary

    Positions are available for individuals with CNC Milling experience. We are willing to train the right person who has some on the job experience or trade school training.

     

    This job will require the ability to setup and run part quantities of 1-24 pieces per run in this non-production work cell. The right individual will need to have an attention to detail, commitment to quality, periodically run multiple machines and ability to work some overtime when needed.

  • CNC OD / ID Grind Machinist

    The person in this position will be responsible for setting up and running a Studer CNC OD/ID grinding machine. The right individual will need to be capable of learning CNC OD/ID grinding processes and be able to hold tight tolerances.

     

    Normal part quantities are 10-24 pieces per run in this “state of the art” non-production shop. This individual should have an attention to detail, commitment to quality and ability to work some overtime when needed. Some programming experience is required.

HISTORY

Great legacies grow into long lasting icons…

R&D Tool and Engineering was founded in 1976 by Ivan and Ardith Drienik serving the tool and die markets. In 1978, they purchased property in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and built a 9,900 square foot building which has grown into a campus with 170,000 square feet of floor space.

 

In the mid 1980’s, R&D was heavily involved in the plastics industry; designing and building custom injection tools, ISBM, SBM, and extrusion blow molds. In 1995, Ivan and Ardith purchased DK Mould in Sutton In Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England. The new UK division of R&D quickly became proficient in injection stretch blow tooling where they have doubled in size to 32,000 square feet with a sales team fluent in at least eight European languages.

 

Since the mid 90’s, the US facility has offered prototype services, IBM, preform molds, and on-site product development for custom injection, ISBM, SBM, IBM, and extrusion blow molds.

 

The new millennium added medical injection molds, CD/DVD/Blu Ray molds and aerospace components to the US team, and an expanded Product Solutions Laboratory for the UK facility. Leverage is our creative design studio added to facilitate consumer research, and create brand building manufacturable product and package designs.

Although Ivan passed away in 2007, Ardith and the rest of the R&D/Leverage team continue his legacy by never forgetting the foundation the business was built upon as R&D Tool & Engineering.
